~ Comforting People with Cancer
Since being established in Canada in 1999 by Betty Giffin (see www.victoriasquiltscanada.com for details) this dedicated group has delivered over 9970 quilts to people going through cancer treatments across Canada. In 2007 they delivered an average of 224 quilts per month.
*A Victoria’s Quilt may be any colour, any pattern and any technique that inspires you.
The only restrictions are that the quilt be:
- Made of 100% cotton, including 100% cotton batting and 100% cotton flannel backing
- Free from embellishments (they might get caught on medical equipment)
*Victoria’s Quilts must be durable with firm seams and closely-placed quilting or tying because they will be washed many times.
*Victoria’s Quilt Sizes are:
- Adult – 50 inches by 70 inches
- Youth – 40 inches by 60 inches
- Child – 30 inches by 50 inches
Attention fellow quilters:
has your stash grown beyond your wildest dreams and are you looking for a useful and rewarding way to reduce some of your stored quilting fabrics, left over blocks, scraps etc to make room for new projects that are spinning around in your head.
